Our History


MPLUS FOUNDATION has been a national backbone organization that specializes in the prevention of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD), sexual health, and LGBTQ rights in Thailand. MPLUS mainly campaigns and drives activities in HIV prevention. We reach out to Men Who Have Sex with Men (MSM), Male Sex Workers (MSW), and Transgender Women (TGW) population in Chiang Mai through Drop-In Center (DIC) where Friend-To-Friend active learning activities to prevent HIV & STDs, as well as referring services to receive HIV & STDs testing are provided. Our advocacy efforts also include creating media content, managing organization–public relations, radio broadcasting to educate safe sex, HIV & STDs protection, and fostering positive attitudes toward our target groups. We have hosted campaigns, seminars, and exhibitions to promote understandings to target groups and individuals across a broad spectrum of backgrounds e.g., police officers, bar owners, government officers, and teachers.

Launched an internal HIV Testing service at Drop-In Center (DIC) using a Mobile model in parallel with the referring system to partnering clinics. Adopted a Peer-Mobilizer system and Commcare Application to enhance the operating system and to better reach the target groups in different communities and to store the collected data.

Certified as Diamond-Level Standard Community HIV/STI Test Service Center by Department of Disease Control of Thailand.

2018 The Mplus medical technology clinic received a Certification of Medical Laboratory for Medical Laboratory Standard (MOPH Standard) by The medical technology council and secured funding from National Health Security Office (NHSO) to provide services to the key populations in Chiang Mai.

Advocate for support and improvement on sexual health and rights of persons with diverse sexual orientation and gender identities by networking with all sectors in the society to achieve social equality and equity.
